Bill of Lading
A legal document between the product shipper and the delivery carrier that details the type, quantity and destination of the product being shipped. It also serves as a receipt of shipment when products are delivered.
The document should include the following information:
Ship from address
Ship to address
BOL number
Carrier information
Trailer number (seal if applicable, SCAC and Pro number)
Payment terms for Freight charges
PO number
Number of packages/cases
Weight
NMFC item number and class
Shipper’s signature and date (indicating BOL accuracy and protecting consignee)
Carrier’s signature and date
Party that counted and loaded the freight
